FINE ART INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION NOMINEE WINNER AWARD TO ‘ROCK OF AGES’

Layers of volcanic strata formed throughout the ages created this curious, a bit eerie otherworldly, but wondrous, landscape of an uninhabited island in the Galápagos Archipelago. Strange, unexpected colors, terrestrial shapes and topography both inform and challenge our perception. The optics of striations, light and colors make it seem to appear both on a flat plane and receding at the same time - to the point of disorientation. Only a native penguin, resting high on the rock, center stage, anchors the scene to the Planet Earth.

A truly natural abstract, ROCK OF AGES was just honored as a Nominee Winner in Fine Art/Nature in the prestigious 18th Annual INTERNATIONAL COLOR AWARDS, selected from among 5,373 entries from 71 countries, and is part of my “Of the Earth” exhibition portfolio https://karenjordan.com/of-the-earth.
