TWO-AWARD NOMINEE, INTERNATIONAL COLOR AWARDS MASTER CUP
FIRE AND WATER (Diptych)and THE LATERALS (Diptych), each composed of two “panels” of photographs, are in actuality straight photographs from slides (“chromes”) that have not been manipulated or cropped in the printing. Yes, they appear abstract, but the abstraction is created by the way I frame the image when looking through the camera’s viewfinder.
FIRE AND WATER with its shimmering, intense color, and THE LATERALS with sharply defined, richly saturated color and rectilinear forms have been confused on occasion as painted art, which they are not. They are strictly photographic images and are true to the image as it existed.
My deepest thanks to the distinguished panel of jurors for voting FIRE AND WATER and THE LATERALS for this honor.
