'CAMDEN RED' RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD

When I returned to Camden Harbor, ME, to photograph, it was an unusually windy day - not what I hoped for.  I had captured some of my favorite exhibition images there in prior visits - the earliest, just days before 9/11 - but I was shooting on still water, which at that time I favored for the definition and crispness of the reflections.

Maine’s reputation for superb air quality of soft, diffuse light - ideal for shooting - did not disappoint! After a long while exploring the harbor view, I  spotted a vivid impression of an intense fiery red presence intermingling with white streaks of light on the turbulent dark water of the harbor, and I knew that this was my image. .

I often take advantage of the reflective qualities of water to achieve a through-the-lens abstraction such as this one and seek to capture the unexpected colors, shapes, forms, and illusions of texture/ finish that the world around us offers.

A truly natural abstract, CAMDEN RED was just honored as a Nominee Winner in abstract Fine Art in the prestigious 18th Annual INTERNATIONAL COLOR AWARDS competition, and is part of my Water Images portfolio https://karenjordan.com/water-images.
