EXHIBITED: "A Mid-Summer’s Landscape"

A Mid-Summer’s Landscape, Northumberland

A MID-SUMMER’S LANDSCAPE selected to appear in the 29th Faber Birren National Color Award Show, FAA Gallery, Stamford, CT., Oct. 4- Nov. 5, 2009. Paulina Pobocha, Assistant Curator, Department of Painting and Sculpture, MOMA, juried the show.

Captivated by the transition of the golden wheat field that dominates the foreground, to the dark green rows of trees in the middle distance, to the cloudless blue sky in the background, I saw this rural landscape in Northumberland County, VA, with its clarity, definition and richness of color as the epitome of a perfect mid-summer day.

I have spent a lot of time in rural Virginia, and many of the images reflect a stillness, a peacefulness, a connection to nature and the Earth.
